Children's Activities in Libraries
Fun, friendly, free holiday activities in Bournemouth libraries this summer. Stories, dance, crafts, cooking, reptiles, inventions, a chicken hunt, and much more….
We are really excited that this summer the theme is The Big Friendly Read which is linked to this year’s Roald Dahl 100 celebrations.
The challenge is for children to visit a Bournemouth library during the summer holidays to borrow and read 6 books (or more). There are stickers and rewards to collect with a certificate and medal for those who complete the challenge. There are exciting, free events in each of the twelve Bournemouth libraries throughout the summer. Check the Bournemouth Libraries website www.bournemouth.gov.uk/libraries to find your nearest library and details of all events in libraries. You can find out more about the Summer Reading Challenge nationally at summerreadingchallenge.org.uk
Aged 13-24? Why not volunteer and help with this year's Summer Reading Challenge at your local library.
Councillor Lawrence Williams, Cabinet Member for Tourism, Leisure and The Arts, is enthusiastic “ I am looking forward to visiting the libraries, choosing books and enjoying the events. My grandchildren love to read, and it is so important that families enjoy books and stories together.”
